A Reflection from New Wine

New Wine was an excellent way for us AYM leaders to kick off the year, diving straight into engaging with young people. Cutting Edge and Firewire provided opportunities for us to practice wearing lots of different hats, including running games, worship-leading and speaking. One particular highlight for both leaders and young people was an Adventure-Based Learning (ABL) game about ethical consumption run by Jesse and Luca Duckworth, sparking deep conversations and reflection.

Despite the sickness that went around and took out a couple of leaders, the AYM team did a fantastic job of bringing fun, energy, and encouragement for rangatahi to step out with boldness in their faith.

AYM leader Anika Green recalls, “A key moment where God was moving in the room at New Wine at our high school kids programme, FireWire, was in worship after Rev. Alison Robinson’s kōrero. Alison talked about some key ways young people can remain resilient in their faith at school.”

The weekend’s content was incredibly impactful, with young people responding to invitations and challenges with eagerness and open hearts. In just a few days, the leaders reflect that the young people grew so much in their relationships with Jesus and each other.
